Trophy genetics are what we are after, but not just any trophy genetics. We started our herd with the
best genetics in the US- Shakaree -coupled with the best in New Zealand- Deer Genetics NZ-
to ensure that we can provide the Biggest and Baddest stags in our market.

Our Story
Established in 2018, Halter Ranch Red Deer is a red deer farm dedicated to targeting the best genetics that we possibly can. We have a strong relationship with Deer Genetics New Zealand (DGNZ), who we believe have the best trophy genetics in the world with consistent world records. With their guidance, we hope to achieve scores unseen in the southern US.

A selective breeding program using artificial insemination from the best stags in New Zealand, a specific feeding plan, and an active hands-on approach mimicking the New Zealand deer farming method, will lead us to scores not previously achieved in the US.

September 3rd 2025 Update: We have just weaned our fawns and are preparing our October AI program. We are excited to that several of our two-year-olds stags scored in the high 400's, with one of them achieving 559" (audited by the famous Kelly Bennett from DGNZ).
